11+ Preparation and guidance:
WGGS is part of the South West Herts Consortium, which includes several other local grammar schools. This consortium administers a shared entrance test for all its member schools. The maths test assesses numerical ability and problem-solving skills. It includes questions on topics typically covered in the primary school curriculum up to Year 6.
Format: It consists of multiple-choice questions. The verbal reasoning test evaluates a student’s ability to understand and reason using concepts framed in words. It measures skills such as logical thinking, comprehension, and vocabulary.

It is advised students take the time to visit their preferred school. This not only instils motivation in the student but gives them the opportunity to imagine where they could be studying.
Intuitive Academy advises students to begin preparing for these exams in Year 4 or beginning of year 5. This gives students enough time to become more acquainted with the curriculum for 11+ and the format. Little and often is the way forward to ensure students do not lose momentum and keep focussed on their goal.
For these exams we have created a set of exam papers with likeness of the real exam. Use these to prepare for the exams and practise timing for each paper. The paper consists of 60 questions with a time of 50 minutes. Not every question will require the same amount of time to work things out. That is why it is important to make sure you are aware of some quick tips and tricks to get to the answer as quickly as possible.
